NVIDIA and Deloitte Partner to Implement AI-Powered Digital Agents in Healthcare Industry

Before undergoing a surgical procedure at a hospital, patients often have many questions and can feel anxious. To help alleviate these pre-surgery jitters, NVIDIA and Deloitte have joined forces to develop AI agents using NVIDIA AI technology. These virtual teammates can engage in natural, human-like conversations with patients, answer a wide range of questions, and provide guidance before their preadmission appointments at the hospital. This demo showcases one of these virtual representatives in action, answering patient inquiries. Working together, NVIDIA and Deloitte have created Frontline AI Teammate, which can be used in healthcare settings like hospitals. This digital avatar can have practical conversations in any language, providing instant answers to pressing questions for end users, such as hospital patients. Powered by the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform, Frontline AI Teammate utilizes avatars, generative AI, and large language models. “Avatar-based conversational AI agents offer a unique opportunity to address the productivity paradox in our healthcare system caused by digitization,” said Niraj Dalmia, partner at Deloitte Canada. “It could potentially be the complementary innovation that reduces administrative burden, supports our healthcare workforce, and improves patient experience.” Next-generation technologies, such as NVIDIA NIM microservices, are powering these digital humans. These microservices streamline the development of AI-powered applications and the deployment of AI models, making it easier for developers to create digital humans for healthcare applications. NIM also includes an adaptable NIM Agent Blueprint that developers can use to design interactive, AI-driven avatars, perfect for telehealth. Additionally, NVIDIA NeMo Retriever, a leading embedding, retrieval, and re-ranking model, enables quick responses based on current healthcare data. Customizable digital humans, like James, an interactive demo developed by NVIDIA, can handle tasks such as scheduling appointments, filling out intake forms, and answering questions about upcoming health services. This can improve the efficiency and accessibility of healthcare services for patients. In addition to NIM microservices, James utilizes NVIDIA ACE and ElevenLabs digital human technologies to provide natural, low-latency responses. NVIDIA ACE is a suite of AI, graphics, and simulation technologies that bring digital humans to life. It can integrate all aspects of a digital human into healthcare applications, from speech and translation capabilities to realistic animations of facial and body movements. Deloitte’s Frontline AI Teammate, powered by the NVIDIA AI Enterprise platform, is revolutionizing the way patients interact with healthcare services, providing a more efficient and personalized experience.
