On August 12, 2024, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a Final Notice for Transitional Coverage for Emerging Technologies (TCET). This notice aims to establish a streamlined and efficient process for national coverage of eligible devices designated as “breakthrough devices” by the U.S. government. The goal of this initiative is to ensure transparency, predictability, and expedited coverage for these innovative technologies. The TCET will go into effect on the specified date and will provide a clear framework for the coverage of breakthrough devices under Medicare and Medicaid.
